My Inspiration:
The 2012 London Olympics
Since I spent my childhood in Brighton — just under an hour’s drive from London — I was lucky enough to attend the 2012 London Summer Olympics. I visited many venues and watched several events, but one in particular changed my life. The moment I saw the Olympic swimming events in person, I knew deep down: this was the sport I wanted to do. That experience planted a dream in me — a dream to become an active swimmer.
Back in Sussex, I began taking local swimming lessons. But it wasn’t until 2014, when my family moved to Prague, that I truly began my swimming journey. I joined Para Plavání Praha, a local swimming club dedicated to para athletes. The people there were absolutely incredible — welcoming, encouraging, and full of positive energy. It was at this club that I finally learnt how to swim properly, and from then on, I never looked back.
From Learning to Competing
Later on, during my studies at Olga Havlová’s Academy in Janské Lázně, I joined the local club Lokomotiva Trutnov — and that’s when I began to compete. It was a huge step forward for me. I had trained hard for years, and now I was part of a community that shared my passion.
I absolutely love para swimming — not just the sport itself, but also the people involved. There’s something incredibly special about the para swimming community: it’s supportive, determined, and full of spirit. Through this sport, I’ve grown physically, mentally, and socially. Competing as a swimmer has become a vital and inspiring part of my life.
